Organize Feng Shui Closet

Very much a part of a feng shui styled home, you should organize feng shui closets to complete the look and feel of the harmonious home.

Organize Feng Shui Closet

Feng shui, used for centuries by the ancient Chinese, helps to create harmony in your home and achieves the maximum flow of chi, the life force of all nature. Many individuals that practice feng shui in their home turn a blind eye to their closet, a mistake even advanced feng shui followers make. By following certain feng shui rules, you can turn your closets into a feng shui pleasing, organized paradise.

The first and most simple step of bringing feng shui into your closet is to abide by the fifty percent rule. Put simply, you should throw out all of those old clothes, hangars, random nick knacks and the like. Fifty percent of your closet should be arranged with your items, and fifty percent of the room should be left empty, a practice favorable in assisting the flow of chi. Your items should have ample space, your shoes on the floor should not be touching dresses or clothes hanging on a rod above since this constricts the flow. If you have a dresser in your closet or in your feng shui bedroom , do not fill drawers completely to the top. Instead, leave some space in each drawer.

After you have cleared your closet of clutter, you are ready for a complete feng shui closet organization makeover. Since you have no doubt thrown out all of those old wire hangers, purchase a matching set of hangers. Wooden hangers are perfect for the feng shui look. All of your hangers should match and, if possible, have rounded edges and a clean feel. After you have all of the appropriate closet organizing accessories, you can begin situating your closet in a manner pleasing to the eye and to the feng shui process.

Separate all of your hanging clothes in the form of shirts, slacks, business suits, etc. Then, separate each by color and allow for visible division between each clothing type. Group similar colors near each other to please the flow. Pinks and reds, yellows and oranges and whites and grays flow well together. On the left side of your closet you should place your school or work clothes. In the middle of the closet should be your workout, casual evening and formalwear. The right side should consist of your intimates and perhaps travel clothes and luggage. If you have your shoes on the floor or on a shoe rack, follow feng shui rules and situate all shoes so that they are facing in the same direction.

Whether you are a feng shui pro or a novice beginner, organizing your closet in a feng shui consistent manner is imperative to the flow of chi. Taking time to de-clutter and organize this space will transform your energy in the morning as you search for something to wear!
