Feng Shui in the Home

Ready to use feng shui in the home? It is a great way to go about placing and arranging your furniture and things to bring about harmony.

Feng Shui in the Home

The first step to feng shui in your home is to de-clutter. Start with your bathroom and kitchen and then make your way through your house. After this process is completed, you are ready to move on to more in depth feng shui in your home.

Feng shui philosophy places a big importance on the center of your home. This is called the heart of the home. All energy in your home starts here and vibrates out. It is imperative, if you wish to follow feng shui in your home, that this area is kept sparsely decorated, clean, and clutter free.

Based on feng shui principles, each area of your home is assigned a theme from the bagua. Western practioners overlay the bagua diagram over your floor plan with the starting point being the most used entrance. Eastern practioners orient the bagua based on compass points. Either way it is done, this then gives the feng shui practioners a guide for assigning themes or purposes. In feng shui, you do this for your entire home or office as well as for each room.

Each section on the bagua comes with an accompanying color. Each color relates to something different. For instance, black relates to career and life paths. Red relates to fame and reputation. Green relates to family and foundation. When you use the bagua in a small space to feng shui, it is typically not a good idea to paint the entire room the corresponding color. Instead, you are better off incorporating elements which include the color. When it comes to a whole building, it is ok to paint the walls based on the color of the bagua.

It is important when using feng shui in your home to make sure that you create a harmonious and restful environment in your bedroom. In addition to using the five elements and the bagua, there are several other steps you can take. Bring in fresh energy with plants and fresh flowers. Move your furniture around regularly, even if it is only a few inches. Close the bathroom and closet doors. Fill your space with positive energy and leave the TV out of your sleeping space. Display select positive memoirs of happy times. Feng shui in your home will inevitably have positive results. The major tenets – reduce clutter, have fresh air, and increase light – will have a positive impact regardless of whether you buy in to the more spiritual aspects of feng shui.
