Welcome to Feng Shui Monk, where you can find information and resources on finding balance in your life through the practice of feng shui.
Feng shui is the ancient Chinese practice of the organization of space to arrive at a harmony with the environment. Feng shui is pronounced “fung shway” and literally translates as wind-water. The concept is derived from the time of the Jin Dynasty.
The goal of feng shui is to situate the human built environment on spots with good qi, better known as energy. The "perfect spot" is not so much a physical place, as a location in time. To this end, some areas are excellent for human living and others simply are best left alone.
Qi is one of the fundamental elements of feng shui. It refers to the flow of energy, whether for better or worse. A Luopan, which is a Chinese compass, is used to determine the qi of a particular area.
In our modern world with all of its rushing, people are beginning to reconsider the merits of peace and harmony. To this end, feng shui is going through a rebirth with people pursuing it for personal and business needs. It is not uncommon these days to see homes arranged used feng shui as well as large corporate offices.
